I named my business Affordable for two reasons, one was it started with "A" and I want to be first in the phone book, and the other was I thought Affordable was a nice way of implying that we were a lower cost alternative. And then many years ago, one day I got a call from a lawyer and he told me that they purchased a Panasonic telephone system from my competitor and they have been there 2 days standing out back, reading the manual trying to program it and have been unable to resolve a problem. He asked, "Can you help us?" We went in and solved the problem in just a few minutes. That was when I realized that we are Affordable because we are effective and that translates into savings to our customers. We are true experts at what we do, we save our clients money because of training, experience, and commitment.

Beginning of the Extended Warranties

We have a very large client, Bigelow Properties. You probably know them as Budget Suites of America and Bigelow Aerospace. They just successfully put in orbit the Genesis I, the first private space vehicle.

Many years ago they came to us, they had an old phone system, the company that sold them their system had closed and left town, no one knew how to work on their phone system. They had hired a company to add some new phones but the company they hired could not make it work. So they gave us a call, and we made it work for them. Over time we continued to support their old system and support their needs.

About 2 years ago, Nevada Power was changing a transformer behind their building, and the power went down, then the power went up, then down, and to make a long story short, the phone system died from the many short interval power failures. There were 100's of employees in this building with no telephones. This is not a good place to be. So they called Affordable in a panic and we showed up with some spares and batteries. We made the phone system operate on batteries for 3 weeks while they made a decision on what to do. I am sure they solicited quotes from other vendors, but we gave them a solution that was unique. We provided them with a new state of the art controller, which allowed them to keep all their existing phones and saved them well in excess of $20,000 and they received a new controller.

When I presented them the option for the Platinum Partner Plan, they did not feel they needed it, but what they did want was an extended warranty on the new hardware. So we provided them with an extended warranty to protect their new hardware in the event of a similar failure.
The Affordable Luxury Home

Let me give you an example of a client that had a problem and we helped him solve it. He runs his very large nationwide corporation from his home office. His home is large even by luxury standards. He has 4 buildings on 10 acres. His problem was, when he was inside of his home, or in one of the other buildings and the phone rang, he did not want to have to run to get the phone. He wanted a phone every 10 steps, and when he was driving his golf cart or wandering around on his estate, he needed to be able to answer or make a call, at any time, to anywhere. So we designed and installed a phone system that met those needs. Every 10 steps there is a phone and any cordless phone works anywhere on the property. There are about 120 phones of which about 30 are cordless. No matter where he wanders on his estate, there is a phone within 10 steps.

Beginning of the Partner Plans

Las Vegas Harley Davidson has been our client for 12 years. One day Fred, the purchasing agent, came to me with a problem and we worked out a solution. Fred asked me for a service contract that would cover everything, no matter what the problem. I told Fred that if he would just call us we would come quickly and complete the work and it would save them money. Fred said that he needed a contract so that he did not have to create a purchase request each time he needed service. He wanted to put a level monthly entry into his budget. So we created the Platinum Partner Plan. We now have many customers that use our Partner Plans.
